Android migrations
When a migration is available the minimum Android version is shown.
To From | Legacy | Work Profile | Fully Managed |
---|---|---|---|
Legacy | 5.0+ | 5.0+ | 6.0+1 |
Work Profile | - | 5.0+2 | - |
Fully Managed | - | - | 6.0+3 |
1As a best practice, we recommend the device to have been issued with a 7.0+ minimum at the time, to ensure hardware capabilities and resources for the impending encryption.
2For MobileIron as Source, Samsung and Lenovo devices migration is not supported. There is a known issue (required authentication) which prevent Exodus or any 3rd parties to fetch these devices serial numbers.
3The Companion App needs to be approved and added to the EMM catalog.
Note
Some manufacturers can have improper handling of the DPC (Device Policy Controller) in the fully managed process so make sure the process has been tested beforehand on sample devices.
Devices Battery Thresholds
Depending on the type of devices and their power states, some specific thresholds are required to ensure the feasibility of a migration for these same devices.
For Android
When an Android device is not plugged into a power source and start a migration, its battery level must be at 50% minimum. When the same device is plugged into a power source, the minimum required battery level is of 30%.
For iOS
When an iOS device is not plugged into a power source and start a migration, its battery level must be at 30% minimum. When the same device is plugged into a power source, the minimum required battery level is of 20%.
For macOS
When a macOS device is not plugged into a power source and start a migration, its battery level must be at 30% minimum. When the same device is plugged into a power source, the minimum required battery level is 20%.
Note
A higher level of battery is required for Android due to the potential requirement to execute a full device encryption.
